Title: Alternative Funding Sources for Nonprofits
Funding is an issue for many nonprofits as their needs can easily exceed the revenue provided
from traditional sources. Fundraising consultant and Rotarian Virgil Scott shares fundraising
strategies that have helped nonprofits raise significant dollars to fund capital projects,
programs and to build endowment funds in communities of all sizes. He will also share
strategies the Denver Rotary Club Foundation used to establish and quickly grow their Legacy
Society, which honors donors who are including a charitable gift in their estate plan to the
Foundation. More than 40 members of the Rotary Club of Denver have joined their Legacy
Society.

Virgil Scott, a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), provides consulting services to nonprofit
organizations and executive leaders. He has been a Rotarian since 1995 and is a member of the

Rotary Club of Denver, recognized as their Rotarian of the Year in 2020. Previously he has co-
presented a session titled “Fundraising from A to Z” at the Rotary District 5450 Club Training

Workshop. Virgil is a past president of the Board of Trustees of the Denver Rotary Club
Foundation. Currently he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Mesa Verde Foundation.
